Motivation Letter Software Tester
A good motivation letter for Software Tester connects a concrete personal experience with what the position actually requires - not a summary of the CV. Structure: salutation, a concrete reference to the position or company, a substantiated example from your own experience, an honest closing.
Example
Dear Ms. Zimmermann In my current role at a banking software provider, I am responsible for the test cases covering payment processing. When we supported the switch to ISO 20022 last year, my test area uncovered 47 discrepancies, four of which had a direct impact on booking logic - errors that would have been costly in production. What I enjoy about this work is having to find the case nobody thought of during design. Around 60 percent of my tests run automated via Playwright; I deliberately run the rest manually, because some inconsistencies only show up when you actually click through the flow. I hold the ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst certification and would be glad to bring this experience to your team. Kind regards
Common Mistakes
- The ISTQB certificate is missing or not prominently mentioned
- Manual testing is left unmentioned, even though it makes up the majority of the work in many roles
- No indication of test coverage or the number of defects found
- The profession is presented as a stepping stone towards development
